Book Group 1

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: Book Group 1 group
When: Monthly on Tuesday mornings
Monthly 2nd Tuesday

The group is reading a book each month and meeting to discuss it, currently in Shipley Central Park if fine or on Zoom if wet or cold, moving back to the Group Leader’s house when all members are comfortable with a confined indoor venue.

To join this group you just need an interest in reading a variety of books and a commitment to read one each month. The aim is to think about the book a bit more deeply than we would if we read it alone. We are not 'literary experts’, just keen readers who enjoy an animated and interesting discussion. It is amazing what new insights you get from talking to other group members.

The book group was set up in September 2010. The meeting starts with a brief chat over refreshments. Then members use a list of discussion questions to discuss different aspects of the book.

Members nominate books for reading and then the group votes for the future programme. The group is currently full, limited by the size of the room where we normally meet. However, the group leader would be happy to help U3A members set up a new group in a different location. Do get in touch - contact details in the Welcome Pack when you join.
