Monthly Meetings

The monthly speaker meeting is on the third Wednesday of the month.. Doors open at 10.15am with a 10.30am start. The entry is £2 with tea and coffee available also at £2. Water is available at no charge.

Booking is now essential. To book just email Bookings@Bradfordu3a.org with your details, or text or phone 01274 617963. Please note the new number for booking.

Please be aware that the November Speaker Meeting will also be at Bradford Arts Centre on Wednesday 19 November at the usual time.

15th October. Fran Lawson. Mary’s Meals Mary’s Meals provides 2.6m meals every year to feed school chil-dren all around the world which helps them get education. 

19th November. Rachael Hardcastle. The Struggles of Being a Writer Rachael talks about her experiences as a writer and gives some Creative tips. 

21st January. YAA Speaker. The Work of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A look at behind the scenes of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. 

18th February. Derek Barker. Bradford Should be Really Proud... 20 to 30 favourite topics from this year’s daily list of Facebook Posts. 

18th March. Barney Lerner The Small and Low Rise of Bradford Beck. A history of the Bradford Beck, our famous but mostly underground beck

15th April. Roy Hodson. The Coppergate Dig and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Roy will talk about the archaeological excavation on Coppergate and what is revealed about York in the Viking Age. 

20th May. Pete Mellor. The Assassination of John Lennon Following his talk on Kennedy Pete gives the inside story of John Lennon’s assassination. 

17th June. Peter Palmer. Augustus to Nero; the Decadent Emperors. A look at the early Caesars of Rome and what they got up to. 

15th July. Ros Garside. The Highs and Lows of being a School Governor. A look at changes in educa-tion since the 1980s from a governance perspective.
