U3A racketball players

Our racketbll group was set up in January 2012 with the support of Squash England, the national body that oversees squash and racketball, which is a variant of squash. Initially the club coach worked with us to develop our skills and understanding of the game. A number of experienced group members then took over the coaching of new members if required. Click on the link in the right-hand sidebar to view a short video on what racketball is and why play it.

Racketball is recognised as an easy game to learn and most people are able to enjoy good games very quickly and get a good workout. It is less physically demanding then squash and much kinder to joints and muscles.

Some of us started as complete beginners, others have past experience of squash and are competent players. We can accommodate all levels into the sessions. Racketball is an ideal activity for mixed ability groups. It is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their fitness and learn something new. So please don't be put off if you are not 'sporty'. The emphasis of all our sessions is having fun in a friendly supportive environment. You are very welcome to come along and try a session without making any commitment.

The group play at Heaton Squash and Tennis Club. There is a special reduced charge for use of the courts and rackets are provided. All you need is some comfortable clothing and a pair of trainers with non-marking soles.
