Have a Go’ sessions – Free Racketball at the Heaton Club
Fridays 13 and 20 September. If you have not played sport since school, maybe it is time you gave it another go by joining us for a free short session with the Racketball 2 Group. But if you have played sport more recently, you would also be very welcome to join us and try a new sport. We are a small friendly, mixed ability group that welcomes u3a members of any fitness level. Our aim is to get some exercise, improve our skills and have a lot of fun. We play at the very welcoming Heaton Tennis and Squash Club. We are offering two free sessions for you to come and ‘have a go’. We start with gentle sessions to enable you to pick up skills and learn the game. In between games we enjoy a chat with others. So our meetings are paced to meet everybody’s needs. The 30 minute free sessions are on Friday 13 September and Friday 20 September. You can book in for 10.15 am or 10.55 am. Coffee can be purchased from the club after your session if you wish to stay and chat. Rackets will be provided. All you need is a pair of trainers with light coloured soles (Black soles are not permitted on court) and to wear some comfortable clothes. To book a place please email Jean Blackburn.
Racketball is a bit like squash, has simple rules and can be played more readily by our age group.
We meet from 10.00 am to 11.30 am nearly every Friday at Heaton Tennis and Squash Club. It is a lovely game and easy to learn. You can pace the session to suit your fitness level. We welcome all u3a folk whatever their sport’s ability and beginners will be very welcome. The court fee is £3.75. You need comfortable clothing and trainers that do not have a black sole. Rackets can be provided. Do let us know if you wish to come so that we can book enough courts.
We continue to welcome new members. All you need is the ability to move around a small court and hit a ball. Absolute beginners are welcome. Join a small friendly group and start do something for fun and for your health. Please contact us before joining.
