Pickleball - the basics

Pickleball is usually played in the UK on a badminton court. There is an official pickleball court layout but this is only different from a badminton court in one respect. The game was invented on a badminton court and the overall size of has been retained. The most obvious difference is that in pickleball the net is much lower than for badminton - 36 inches at the posts and 34 inches in the middle.

The games is almost exclusively doubles. This is the case for nearly all social and recreational play and is the norm for the many u3a groups that have sprung up all over England and Wales in the last 2 or 3 years.
