Our Current Issues & Disputes group, (usually just ‘Current Affairs’) has room for more members.
In Current Issues we take topics from TV news or the papers and frame the session around it. One member leads with a talk but the meeting usually lapses into discussion. The subjects are controversial but our meetings are invariably good humoured even when we expose sharp differences of view. Recent topics have included Labour's first six months in office, Electoral reform, Immigration, Cli-mate change, the gulf between generations. Of course, some topics are non-political.
Coming talks: Current Issues before the courts - Britain and USA; Public order and justice; Chief execs' pay and a wealth tax.
Meetings occur on the second Tuesday of each month at 2.00pm. Talk to me if you want to give it a try, John Kendall.
The meeting fee including coffee/tea is £2.50.
