At the June Family History meeting members were asked to take objects or information that had helped them uncover more about the lives of their ancestors.

One member told us how she had used AI to find out more about her Ancestor’s job. Another member read some extracts about the life of a family friend who had been evacuated to England in WW2 from Guernsey. We heard about how newspaper reports had helped one member discover how her great, great granddad had played a very active part in village life and another member also found out about a bigamist in the family from a newspaper article. One member showed us what she thinks was her mum’s christening cap and we also looked at a simple family tree that is used to verify things for another member. It was a very interesting meeting and gave us all lots to think about and different ways to help us with our research.

On Friday 7 August, instead of our usual meeting, some of us will be visiting Bradford Police Museum at 2.00 pm for a guided tour.  There are still a couple of places available if you would like to join us.  The cost is £9.  For more information please contact Jenny Gibbon.

Our meetings at the Mechanics Institute will resume on Friday 4 September.

This is a very friendly and supportive group.  Some members have a lot of experience in researching family history, others only a little, but we all help one another.  Some meetings look at a particular topic, or we might have a speaker.  We also go on occasional visits, for example in June 2025 we visited the Keighley Local Studies Library.

New members are welcome.
