Mechanics institute which has friendly staff, an attractive room with good capacity for a group, and would charge £30 per meeting. Tea/ coffee would be 80p per cup, but groups would need to wash up afterwards!
The room can get very hot in the summer
The Institute has a ceiling mounted projector and a screen fixed to the wall. There is a tall table ( almost lectern height) for putting a laptop on. Connectors are supplied. You do have to bring own laptop. It lacks a sound amplification system. Speakers have to project and there is no microphone for questions or announcements.
Entry involves monitoring a camera on the street and admitting members as they arrive .
For those with mobility issues the Institute is some way from parking/ taxis, public transport.
As well as the large room they have smaller rooms which will seat 8 to 12 people. She had not got the prices to hand. On a Tuesday or Wednesday Helen Whiteley will be available to give more information.
